Paesaggi Toscani invites you to spend a wonderful holiday in Siena, the city of art rich in folkloristic traditions like the famous PALIO.

Siena is an Italian Gothic town which spreads across three hills, and the very centre of Siena can be found at the point where these hills converge: Piazza del Campo, one of the most beautiful squares in the world is the civil and historical centre of town life and is theatre to the famous Palio (the traditional horse-race).

Siena is a town which has remained intact since the Middle Ages. Unlike other cities of art it missed out the Renaissance and the artistic movements that came after.

The Torre del Mangia and the Palazzo Pubblico overlook the square, the latter being one of the most elegant buildings in Tuscany and a splendid example of Gothic architecture.

The Duomo of Siena, one of the purest jewels of Italian Art, is at the summit of one of the hills. The façade of this building is a masterpiece of Gothic art, with sculptures, columns, mosaics and pinnacles surmounted by the bell tower in black and white stripes.

The prestige of Siena has developed through historical and folkloristic traditions, and also because of the enchanting surrounding countryside with a breathtaking landscape consisting of rows of cypress trees and old cottages which have been turned into hotels or welcoming holiday farms. The setting is perfect for gentle walks or bicycle rides, but also for interesting tours in search of old-fashioned country recipes and excellent wines from the Siena hills.
