Paesaggi Toscani offers you the chance to spend an unforgettable stay in Pisa!

The great past of Pisa has given both culture and civilisation to history, an architectural combination which is unique, in both its purity of shape which make it the greatest example of Romanesque style, and also the unusual positioning where an enormous lawn, Campo di Miracoli, and four historical buildings are closely grouped together between ancient walls. These monuments are the Cathedral, the Leaning Tower, the Baptistery and the Camposanto.

The Leaning Tower is the symbol of the city; it defies time and the laws of gravity. Other less known buildings however are also worthy of note: the Chiesa Nazionale dei Cavalieri designed by Vasari, the small church of Santa Maria della Spina along the banks of the River Arno and the National Museum of San Matteo which holds the most complete collection of works by famous sculptors of Pisa from the 13th century.

Pisa is also an important university city, famous for its Scuola Normale Superiore, a university college founded by Napoleone Bonaparte with faculties reserved for students of Literature, Philosophy and Science.

The province of Pisa offers some interesting cultural itineraries: Volterra, one of the twelve centres of Etruscan magistrates, is an important historical town. The Etruscan Museum of Guarnacci holds about 700 cinerary urns in alabaster and tufa, ceramic vases, bronzes, jewels and coins.

For lovers of good food, there are itineraries to be made in search of the famous San Miniato truffle, or to the farms which produce excellent wine and olive oil from the hills surrounding Pisa.
